WEIGHT ROOM

Out of sight to the left is the "heavy" weight set for those lifting multiple tons to train.

"One, two, three, four, five, two, two, three four five...." The former SEAL breathed as he lowered and raised the bar, feeling the strain of his own bodyweight pushing down from above. Continuing the set the man grinned slightly to himself as he remembered his days down in NHS Oceana with the rest of DEVGRU and having a bit of friendly competition on the weights with the Aviators on station -not that the poor fly-boys had much of a chance going up against one of the top squadrons in the entire US Military but it was still fun to do. Setting the weights down at the end of the set of fifteen John took a few breaths before reaching down for his water bottle and having a quick swig before dropping twenty pounds from the weights and continuing, doubling the length of his count and increasing his reps by five, deciding that drop sets to 100 would be the way to go for today. Today was looking like a good day.

In spite of his good mood however Kaiser's own reminiscence couldn't help but make him wonder if he really had made the right choice, was he really cut out for teaching? Was stepping away from the fight and leaving it to others really the right thing to do? He understood that his early retirement had been due to health concerns and was in truth somewhat out of his hands but he still felt like he should be out there, the one man cavalry riding to the rescue of his brothers in arms when it was too hot on the ground for anyone else to get in and gets the boys out. He stopped moving at full extension for a moment, a thoughtful look on his face as he wondered whether that was the combat addiction talking, was it for his brothers or himself that he had gone on those missions, missions that most men would deem suicidal? In truth he knew that it was both. He needed that high like he needed oxygen. With a long, deep sigh the former Lieutenant  lowered the weights to his chest again, seeking to banish the thoughts under sweat and iron.
